KAT stalls 2,550 KPSC lecturer selections

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal on Monday directed the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) not to issue appointment orders to 2,550 newly-recruited lecturers for degree colleges in the state. While hearing a batch of petitions, the division bench, headed by KAT Chairman A V Srinivasa Reddy, directed the KPSC to maintain status quo for its final list of the candidates until further orders from the court.

Ignoring the order would amount to contempt of court, the bench cautioned while issuing the interim order.

Recently, the KPSC had announced the final list of the selected candidates.

When the list was sent for approval, the government had assured that appointment orders would be issued in the last month of June or the first week of July.

KAT’s interim order on Monday has stalled all further proceedings of the KPSC.
