Minister condemns corruption in recruitment

BANGALORE, JUNE 10, 2009: Minister for Higher Education Arvind Limbavali and Principal Secretary, Higher Education, A.S. Srikantha are facing a piquant situation - that of bribe being demanded in their names from prospective government college lecturers.

The minister refuted charges of corruption in recruitment of lecturers in the state, and requested people to provide details of such irregularities, if any, to him personally.

"I deny allegations of corruption in recruitment of 2,050 lecturers. However, I have received about 25 to 30 complaints that some persons in my office and in the Higher Education Secretariat are indulging in it," Mr Limbavali told reporters.

The minister asked people to contact him and provide information on such persons and promised action against those found guilty. The Government is all set to issue appointment letters to lecturers selected by Karnataka Public Service Commission after completing the process of verification of documents.
