KAT Stays Selection List

In a major set back to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Monday stayed KPSC’s final list of the candidates selected for the post of lectureship to the degree colleges in the State.

However, the current order would only be applicable for the lectureship posts in Political Science and History subjects. KPSC had selected 335 candidates for both the subjects.

The Commission had announced a list of 2,550 candidates for the post of lectureship in degree colleges.

Recently, the government had given its nod to the KPSC list and stated that it would be issuing appointment orders to the selected candidates in the first week of July.

But the government’s decision was contested by petitioners Biradhar and others who took the case to the KAT.

While hearing the application filed by Biradhar and others, KAT Chairman A V Srinivasa Reddy stayed the implementation of the final list dated February 19 and 27, 2009.
